Schools Programme Itinerary

The International School for Peace Sudies (I.S.P.S.) can tailor it's programme to the needs of each school, offering both accredited (NIOCN level 1 & 2) and non-accredited programmes.  Level 1 programmes last five days/four nights, while level 2 programmes last six days/five nights. 

The following is an example of a level 2 Programme Itinerary:

DAY 1

Travel from Ireland to Belgium, via Dublin airport

DAY 2

Tour of Somme area, France, to include:

• Newfoundland Memorial at Beaumont Hamel
• 36th Ulster Division Ulster Tower
• British Memorial at Thiepval
• Grave of Willie McBride
• Lochnagar Crater
• 16th Irish Division Cross at Guillemont
• Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge

DAY 3

Tour of Ypres Battlefield Sites, Belgium, to include:

• German Cemetery at Langemark
• Grave of John Condon at Poelcapelle
• Tyne Cot Cemetery at Passchendaele
• "Shot at Dawn" cells at Poperinge
• Grave of Major Willie Redmond M.P. at Loker
• Pool of Peace at Wijtschate
• 16th & 36th Division Plinths at Wijtschate
• 16th Irish Division Cross at Wijtschate
• Island of Ireland Peace Park Mesen/Messines
• Attend "Last Post" ceremony at Menin Gate, Ypres

DAY 4

• Workshops & programme evaluation
• In Flanders Fields Museum, Ypres
• Visit to the beautiful City of Brugge

DAY 5

• Bellewaerde Fun Park, Ypres
• Bowling / Pool or other social activity
• N.B. social choice for programme seasonal dependent

DAY 6

• Free time to shop in Ypres
• Travel Home
