school for peace
Welcome
book online

The International School for Peace Studies was created to exploit the potential for mutual understanding, respect for differences, and reconciliation through remembrance of the unique events of June 1917, when the traditionally opposing factions of Irish politics, catholic nationalists and protestant unionists, fought side by side for a common cause in Mesen/Messines, Belgium.

That is the inspirational moment at the heart of the School's ethos and work.

The International School for Peace Studies offers a venue and a vision for all, in a non-threatening, peaceful setting where participants will be given the opportunity to understand first-hand the realities of brutal conflict, and where through expert facilitation they will be encouraged to engage in educational and training programmes.

Programmes are offered in “Conflict Transformation and the Mesen/Messines Experience” approved by the Open College Network (OCN) N.I. to Levels I and II and a Level III Fellowship Programme. In addition, the school offers an organised programme to those who just wish to visit the battlefield sites, cemeteries, monuments and museums.
